What is Unique about Barrio Queen?

Barrio Queen has something really special. Our guest experience starts when you drive into the parking lot. Since we have a lot of handmade murals outside that are great for taking selfies in front of, the experience starts there. Then, as soon as you come inside the restaurant, you’re going to walk in with our staff greeting you and showing you the restaurant. At the same time, you’re gonna see our retail space. Our retail space has a lot of cool shirts with unique designs, authentic mugs from Mexico, and hand painted engraved skull heads. We have a lot of really cool things in our retail space. Then you get to your table, and our servers take care of you, giving you the experience we want. We say ‘me Casa su casa’ because we want you to feel you are at home, at our home.

What is the mission of Barrio Queen?

Our mission is to educate our guests on Mexican food. We don’t serve Tex Mex food, we serve authentic Mexican food that starts with Mexican spices, fresh food made daily from scratch. We don’t have any canned food or any frozen items, we have everything made with love, passion, and traditional authentic recipes. All our recipes come from family. And we also have a lot of items from Mexico.

There are a lot of different cuisines in Mexico. So we have items from the south, we have items from Yucatan, Quintana row, we have items from the north from Sonora, we have items from Mexico City, so it’s really authentic. Food coming from the past or our roots. That’s what we have to offer you. There are a lot of things to show the community that are authentic, and there is a killer business behind this, because as soon as people try our food, they come back.

Our drinks are also phenomenal. If you try our food and drinks, I’m sure you will be back. Our drink menu is based on tequila. Everyone knows tequila. We also offer Mezcal. Mezcal is kind of like a sister of Tequila. There are only certain states where you can produce Mezcal. So those are things that are amazing in terms of experience that we offer to our customers that people aren’t familiar with. You don’t have to go to Mexico and try real Mexican food and drinks.

How has social media helped the demand for authentic Mexican food?

Social media has helped us a lot. When someone first comes into our restaurant and tries our food, they start making TikTok videos and Instagram posts, then they tag us and we share it. We get a lot of people coming back because of social media. It helps educate everyone in our authenticity, but also shows that it’s a cool place. We have families that come and celebrate their four year old’s birthday, and we also have families enjoying an eightieth birthday at Barrio Queen. We have people coming for bachelor parties and graduations. So it’s basically a restaurant that accommodates every age. Everyone has fun. So it’s not just for the younger crowd or older crowd, it’s for everyone.

What are you most proud of while working with Barrio Queen?

We have been growing super fast. I’m proud that there are a lot of people saying you guys are growing too fast. Here we are, all our locations are successful. We opened three locations during COVID, and we were able to make them succeed. We had a lot of takeout service when we were not allowed to have people inside the restaurants and actually opened four locations in two years. I’m really proud that we were able to open more locations, and keep the authenticity and the flavors, and everyone is on the same page and loving the brand. This is something that you’re going to love. It’s an amazing company to work for. And it’s fun, you learn a lot of things and you eat really good food every day.
